Most recent contract was to establish a quality system for a medical device company so that they could achieve ISO certification and meet FDA compliance. Duties included assuring that our development efforts met the marketing objectives, establishing design control procedures, holding design reviews, writing procedures for the product life cycle process, writing assembly procedures, interacting with contract manufacturers and providing training. I was responsible to report progress to executive management.Currently working with a team to establish a training program for project management, retirement skills and starting the translation of the next revision of IPC electronic assembly standards. Program Management in data storage development. Duties included: working on the Offering Solution Business Plan team, assuring the design control process was in compliance to ISO standards, managing the capital assets of the program and leading a cross-functional team to achieve the program objectives. The team consisted of Marketing, Sales, Finance, Purchasing, Development, Microcode, Test, Manufacturing, Customer Support, Service, Technical Support Marketing and Documentation. I was responsible for meeting quality, cost and schedule objectives. I managed a $42 million dollar budget and was accountable to report project status to executive management on a monthly basis. Working with the development engineers, we established a contract manufacturing arrangement with several Japanese companies. My team released the project 6 months ahead of schedule, under budget and exceeded the quality and performance expectations of the customers. Responsible for establishing a quality system that met ISO 9000 standards. Provided Quality Management training, implemented statistical process control and utilized experimental design techniques. Was responsible for all aspects of manufacturing including purchasing, receiving, assembly and test. I was also responsible for compliance with OSHA and other environmental standards as well as employee safety. When the company acquired a rechargeable battery company, my assignment was broadened to Director of World Wide Quality. Over 250 employees reported to me. I was responsible for overseeing quality and yield improvements in the production and assembly process. Scrap was reduced by 10%. I had staff that monitored and responded to customer complaints and lead the effort to resolving customer issues. Maintained ISO 9001 certification in the Mexico assembly plant. Coordinated the effort to provide Six Sigma Black Belt training to members of the senior staff. Worked with key customers in Japan to assure ongoing customer satisfaction. Responsible to establish a Quality Management System that met ISO requirements. Established project plans for the QMS process, provided training and lead the implementation. We passed the pre-audit assessment one year after launching the ISO effort. Lead an organizational that included Purchasing, Receiving, Fabrication (welding & machining), Assembly, Test, Technical Documentation, and Facilities. Directly responsible for writing customer acceptance criteria, coordinating the Beta testing and leading the final acceptance test and review at the customers tactility. Customers were Fortune 500 companies and were located in the U.S., Mexico, Singapore and Korea. I established a customer service and maintenance process. During an assignment as V.P of the Semiconductor Business Unit, I lead the effort to demonstrate to a key semiconductor technology provider that our equipment could reproduce electronic assembly to six sigma standards. I met with the customer’s senior technical team to assure them of the repeatability of the equipments performance. Obtaining the agreement from the customer that our equipment was a repeatable, standard product, lead to the company‘s acquisition by an optical vision inspection company. Received a recognition award for improving efficiencies in the metrology and calibration laboratory.

Performed duties as a quality engineer in high speed printers. Responsible for analyzing data from optical and laser laboratory assembly areas. Participated in the Malcolm Baldrige Quality team and the ISO 9000 team. Also responsible for analyzing field performance data and reporting results to executive management.Quality Engineering Manager-Tape Products: Responsible to implement and maintain a quality system in a magneto-resistive head assembly process. Responsible to qualify the production line to Corporate Standards. Transferred the quality process to a sister assembly plant in Spain. Also responsible for maintaining the entire manufacturing’s metrology and calibration laboratory.Temporary assignment in New York to acquire information on purchasing electronic components for the Corporation. Participated in a quality assurance in semiconductor fabrication.Technical Aide to the assistant Plant Manager. Provided staff work for production areas of printers, printed circuit board assembly, disk and tape storage. Special duties included providing data analysis on the product measurement and analysis lab.Development Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Established manufacturing test procedures for tape drive assembly and test. Coordinated field returns and established a laboratory to perform in-house re-work and calibration. Provided data analysis and reporting to executive management. A 5% cost reduction was a key metric in my performance objectives and this was met. I received an award for improving yields at a contract assembly shop.
