6 month contract position for IT Emerging Technology in Chattanooga, TN. Job description: Must be proficient and have at least two years experience in developing Visual Basic.Net and ASP.Net (Visual Basic.Net is a strong requirement). Must have SQL server or Oracle experience in database usage, multiple-table queries, etc. C#, C++ experience is a plus. Knowledge of and experience in Farpoint Spread for Windows is helpful. Experience in Portal design and programming with BEA (formerly Plumtree), Microsoft SharePoint or equivalent is a strong plus.

Must be a fast learner and be able to obtain requirements directly from the end users. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to create user guides, specification manuals and other technical manuals that back the needed programming skills. Will be working on a team, but needs to be able to perform their work with little instructions and/or training. Must have excellent analytical skills.

Must be ambitious and be willing to work in a department that expects good, sound programming within a reasonable time period. Some systems that the candidate develops or takes over are expected to be supported on a 24 by 7 basis.

Must be able to work independently, as a team member or as a project leader managing complex software development projects or enhancing existing system. Works directly with the customer to analyze and document business needs and propose solutions. Will be directly interfacing with the customer and making presentations to describe software project and progress. Must be able to obtain a 24 by 7 security access.

Must have a college degree in computer programming or equivalent industry accepted certificates.
