Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and business development on Wastewater related jobs with respect to strategic approach and understanding client needs, robustness of solutions, risk mitigation, timeliness and QA review, and involving Business/Service Line Leaders as appropriate to achieve these outcomes.

Marketing and winning proposals, and managing the resulting relationships along with managing the Job/Teams progress. Plan and manage the resource allocation for jobs, and ensure work products are delivered on time. Work with other staff and internal Business lines to complete projects to a high technical standard and ensure mutual satisfaction with clients. Conduct specific investigations, feasibility studies, functional and detailed designs, and management of construction of wastewater projects. Lead and manage project teams delivering wastewater infrastructure projects and provide leadership, guidance, coaching and feedback on performance to Project Directors and Job Managers.

Managing projects in accordance with client brief/RFP, and manage technical performance on projects, carry out regular reviews of adherence to the quality plan (quality plan to be approved by the Project Director) and take corrective action as required.

This position will be out in the field 50% of the time in order to build relationships with existing clients and working to establish new business.  Eventually this position will include some traveling out of California.

The role requires demonstrated leadership skills and excellent communication skills (both oral and written) along with a strong focus on customer service. You will be adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously and at determining priorities; using your strong negotiating skills and your keen understanding of client needs to achieve a favorable outcome.

Ideally you will be educated to degree level in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and be a Professional Engineer registered in California. Due to the seniority of the role the successful applicant will have a minimum 15 years experience in civil engineering related to wastewater systems preferably in consulting and have specialist technical ability in the investigation, design, operation, and/or rehabilitation of wastewater systems. Your experience in marketing and business development with a demonstrated network of contacts in Southern California will also be highly regarded.
