Job Title: Controller Reports To: CEO Position Summary The Controller has responsibility for the firm’s financial reporting, tax accounting and reporting, budget and management information. Efficient and timely recording and reporting of the accounting and financial operations of the firm and the management of accounting personnel. These responsibilities currently include two entities, and others that may be established in the future. General Responsibilities -Operation and management of the firm’s accounting system, organization, and accounting personnel. -Improvement of accounting systems and procedures -Maintaining and improving internal controls. -Maintain the Firm’s corporate tax filings & records. -Responsible for accuracy and control of all financial books and records. Specific Responsibilities -Financial Accounting: Maintain the Firm’s accounting records by properly recording, accounting and reporting financial transactions. The Firm uses CPA Software (CPAS) for our time and billing system and MAS 90 as our accounting system. Payroll processing is conducted through ADP. -Tax Returns and Other Government Reports: Preparation of federal, state and local tax returns for both entities, and all other government reports as required. - Financial Reports: Produce all financial reports. Examine and communicate observations and recommendations to the CEO. Reports include Balance Sheet and Income Statement, analysis of Accounts Receivable, Work-in-Process, budgets, cash flow, and additional reports as necessary. -Profitability Analysis: Prepare monthly profitability reports in a timely manner, including analysis by individual, department and practice niche, and other analysis as necessary. Review, summarize, and make recommendations to Senior Management. -Budget: Develop monthly and annual budgets for revenue, capital and operating expenditures, personnel, productivity and cash flow. -Documentation of Procedures: Document accounting system for the benefit and use of the accounting department staff, and other firm members. This manual will include procedures relating to CPAS, MAS 90 and related office processes, procedures and internal controls. -Hiring of Accounting Personnel: Project and anticipate personnel needs within the Accounting Department. In conjunction with the Human Resources Manager, screen, test and recruit internal accounting staff. -Workflow Monitoring and Distribution: Ensure sufficient division of duties amongst accounting staff to provide efficient departmental workflow and internal control. -Liaison and Relationships: Serve as liaison, maintaining banking, insurance and other 3rd party relationships as required. -Additional Responsibilities: Prepare and analyze special reports as requested. Perform other reasonably related business duties as requested. Education and Background -BA in Accounting or Finance -5+ years of highly related experience -Prior management and supervisory experience -Effective leadership and excellent verbal and written communication skills -Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word Skills. -Strong analytical and problem solving skills -Knowledge of the operation and accounting for professional service firms Clothier & Head offers a comprehensive benefit package, with salary DOE.
