Messier-Dowty landing gear are in service on more than 19,500 aircraft making over 35,000 landings every day. The company supplies 33 airframe manufacturers and supports 2,000 operators of large commercial aircraft, regional and business aircraft, military aircraft and helicopters. The company is providing the landing gear on the new Boeing 787 Dream Liner. Quality Assurance Engineer (Only local Seattle area applicants, please) • Quality Engineering representative for landing gear Assembly Operation in Everett, WA • Interface with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier groups to improve product quality and reduce cost related to rework and scrap in the Assembly Shop • Establish Assembly Shop quality metrics (customer rejections, NCR’s etc.) develop plans and implement actions to achieve objectives in a team environment • Support Program Quality Engineers in resolving customer concerns and rejections in the Assembly Operation • Perform Root Cause / Corrective Action activities • Assist in developing quality related training programs and cascades to the shop floor • Support Assembly Manufacturing Engineering in developing and reviewing detailed instructions for assembly methods • Provide guidance on procedural issues to shop floor and management personnel in the Assembly Shop • Perform inspection activities as needed with Messier-Dowty and on the Boeing production line (for retrofits) to support production flow Requirements for the position: • Bachelor’s level degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required • Minimum five years manufacturing and inspection experience in an aerospace or closely related environment required • Experience implementing a Quality Management System required • Experience in lean manufacturing and six sigma quality preferred - Black Belt ASQ accreditation will be an asset • Familiar with aerospace regulatory requirements and AS9100/ISO9001: 2000 quality system • Hands-on experience in problem solving required • Ability to read and understand drawings/models • CATIA v5 software experience would be an asset • Good Conflict resolution and teaming skills required • Good interpersonal and communication/listening skills required • Proficiency with MS Office This position will report to a manager in Toronto, Canada.
