Optikos Corporation, an optical engineering firm located in a new expanded facility in Wakefield, Massachusetts is looking for an experienced mechanical engineer/designer to join our team! In this fast-paced position you will be involved in diverse optical engineering programs within the consumer, medical, industrial, and aerospace markets. We are looking for a team player with a keen eye for detail, design savvy, enthusiasm and proven problem solving abilities. You must possess a BSME, or equivalent, including 5-10 years design experience. Our output extends from complex custom assemblies to mass-produced injection molded parts. The position presents an opportunity to define your own role within many exciting consulting projects and also requires some ongoing support of our line of catalog products. Required skills: * Hands-on skills and abilities * Strong analytical skills * Thorough knowledge of SolidWorks * Experience working with machine shops * Ability to create detailed drawings with appropriate tolerances * Enthusiastic self-starter * Excellent communication abilities Desired skills: - Experience designing and prototyping precision opto-mechanical assemblies is a plus - Medical product development and/or electronic product development experience are a plus - Aerospace components/system development experience is a plus Environment The successful candidate will be an innovator who recognizes that optical engineering encompasses many different disciplines, and will therefore have developed a strong diverse skill set that includes exposure to optical system design as well as opto-mechanical design. Experience with optically based instrumenation is a plus. This person will also have strong communication skills and will be able to work both independently and as a member or leader of a project team.
