The possibility for advancement and education with the company would be an extra, but are not necessary. SUMMARY I have 23 years of experience in the medical industry and 20 years of with laboratory systems. I have experience in insurance claims, billing, EDI, and all aspects of laboratory information systems. I’ve worked on development, analysis, customer support, installations, training, and testing. I have experience in all portions of the Antrim and Rubicon laboratory information systems. I’ve experience as a manager, programmer, analyst, technical leader, project leader, project manager, and group leader. I’ve successfully installed entire LIS’s as well as, anatomic pathology, microbiology, instrument interface, foreign system interface, blood bank, and A/R systems. I have experience with HL7, hospital interfaces, and financial interfaces. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Dallas Technology Group: Dallas, Texas January 2007 to March 2007 Consultant As a consultant at AmeriPath Laboratories, I am responsible for testing various applications on the new Pathway Anatomic Pathology system. I have written test scripts, functional requirements and I served as a project leader for modifications to an application in the new system. Lab Corp: Richardson, Texas November 2004 to September 2006 Senior Systems Specialist My main responsibility was the Cache’ conversion of Lab Corp’s remaining Antrim Laboratory systems. I was the software lead for the successful conversion of an Antrim system from MSM to Cache’ version, 5.0. Most recently, I was software lead for the DSM to Cache’ 5.2 conversion of Antrim systems in Seattle, WA. I was also responsible for the development and support of the Antrim system with an emphasis in the Antrim networking subsystem, the Paperless Microbiology subsystem and HL7 interfaces. I participated in the on going development of a new interface engine that was being written using Cache’ Objects. I participated in Lab Corp classes in Cache’ Objects, and Cache’ Objects web classes. Hal M. Cothran EDS: Plano, Texas August 2003 to November 2004 Senior Systems Engineer I was a developer for the Fee Basis group, but I did development for other groups as needed. I programmed enhancements to the Veterans Administration Hospital System, VISTA. I’ve assisted with enhancements to encapsulate the VISTA Fee Basis system, preparing the Fee Basis VISTA system for re-hosting on a JAVA/Oracle system that will run at a central location in Denver, CO. I developed a registration report for the VISTA Integrated Billing system that allows the users to obtain statistics on patient pre-registration and registration. I’ve developed programs to create an insurance data extract file for electron submission to a third party company that uses the insurance claim data to appeal these claims with their respective insurance carriers. I was involved in the development of enhancements to the VISTA Payroll system to allow for updates to payroll data for part time physicians and I am creating programs to create an extract file of blood bank data for electronic export to the Decision Support Systems (DSS) at the Austin Automation Center in Austin, TX. DSS will use the data to collect and cost the actual transfusion of blood products. Lab Corp/Dynacare Corporation: Dallas, Texas January 2000 to August 2003 Senior Systems Specialist I was responsible for development and support for 5 different versions of the Antrim laboratory information system as well as some programming support for the Rubicon laboratory system. Emphasis in developing and supporting HL7 interfaces between the Antrim system and foreign laboratory systems and hospital information systems. Most of these interfaces utilize the Cloverleaf interface engine, now Quovadx, or the Hublink interface engine. I converted an MSM system running an AIX system to a Cache system running on Windows NT. Programming on the Antrim and Rubicon systems is done in VAX DSM, and Cache’ on DEC Alphas and PC’s running MS Windows NT. Antrim Corporation: Plano, Texas April 1992 to January 2000 Senior Programmer/Analyst for Networking Developed, installed and supported the Networking product. Antrim Networking is used to interface to foreign systems. I was often assigned to install large, complex, or difficult clients. I completed the installation of numerous foreign system interfaces at the Mayo Clinic. I have experience in microbiology, blood bank, customer support, Kbase/SQL reporting, anatomic pathology, and implementations. I developed and installed the Antrim anatomic pathology subsystem and developed interfaces to AP systems such as COPATH. I developed, installed and supported various instrument interfaces and hospital information systems interfaces. I am familiar with HL7 and ASTM. Antrim’s software is written in DEC M, Micronectics M, InterSystems M and Cache’. It operates on PC’s, DEC Alpha, DEC VAX, and IBM RISC systems. Hal M. Cothran Rubicon Corporation: Richardson, Texas January 1986 to April 1992 Group Leader Accounts Receivables/Reference Lab Group My responsibilities included support of commercial laboratory and accounts receivable systems in the United States and Canada, software development, project management, and training. Prior to the group lead position, I was lead engineer for the installation of two large complex lab and A/R systems in Canada. Rubicon’s software was written in DEC M and InterSystems M and operated on DEC PDP and DEC VAX systems. Medical Control: Dallas, Texas December 1984 to January 1986 Programmer/Analyst I performed the programming and analysis for a new medical claims database management system that was under development. The system was targeted for sales to hospitals and businesses. My primary focus was to develop new system modules. The software was written in Databus and operated on Datapoint and IBM PC systems. Medicomm: Richardson, Texas June 1984 to November 1984 Programmer/Analyst I was responsible for the analysis, programming and development of a medical office management system. My major accomplishment was the overhaul of the appointment scheduling system. The software was written in Databus and operated on Datapoint and IBM PC systems. Computer Automation: Richardson, Texas October 1983 to June 1984 Information Systems Division Manager Responsible for the analysis and programming of the financial, inventory control and customer service systems. Managed operations and two computer operators at the Richardson division. The software was written in SYBOL and operated on Computer Automation hardware. Employer’s Insurance of Texas: Dallas, Texas January 1981 to June 1983 Systems Analyst Responsible for the analysis, programming, operations, support and training of the district office claims management system and the salvage and subrogation system. The software was written in Databus and operated on Datapoint hardware. Hal M. Provide advice and assist is the writing of certain portions of the response as well as assist STG in their search for additional M and VISTA expertise. Sea Change Systems, Inc: Providence, Rhode Island January 2001 to September 2001 Created documentation for the Mayo Clinic on Antrim instrument interface subsystem, Antrim AutoDial reporting and the seven Antrim networking interfaces. The documentation explained the internal processes of these systems and the structure of the HL7 and site specific formats of the files that the interfaces sent or received. The documentation was created so that the Mayo Clinic could support their Antrim LIS system. Hospitals In Common Laboratories: Toronto, Ontario September 1999 to March 2000 Develop instrument interface programs for the Rubicon Laboratory System at three different Laboratories. Developed one interface for the Vitros instrument, two Coulter interfaces and two Clintec interfaces. The Rubicon system is written in Digital Standard Mumps and runs on four DEC mini VAX’s. Hospitals In Common Laboratories: Toronto, Ontario October 1992 to August 1993 I was responsible for evening support of the Rubicon Laboratory and Rubicon Financial systems.
