Established the best future growth potential, and produced the key territory in preparation for AAT’s divestiture back to SBA in 2006 for $2.8-billion – 16-20 times cash flow. o Directed the efforts of a seven-person team developing new opportunities throughout the territory in anticipation of a carrier’s development plans. Secured six new contracts within the first two months; within six months eclipsed annual growth projections. o Oversaw ongoing liaison with wireless carriers to determine expansion priorities and optimum site development locations. o Developed internal policy and procedures for the Customer Service department and ultimately created the best “customer service reputation” in the region among competitors, paving the way for increased business. o Championed the need to develop rural carriers and recommended constructing new towers with only one anchor tenant – unheard of in the tower industry at that time. CHARTER COMMUNICATIONSSenior Vice President of Operations (1998 – 2003)Recruited to guide the explosive growth of the Western Region as Charter raced to dominance in the cable communications industry. Accountable for a $450-million operating budget and support of over 800,000 customers in Southern and Central California and Nevada. Supervised a managerial staff of 18 including engineering, marketing, sales, financial management, governmental affairs, advertising and customer service. o Maintained a 43% gross profit margin for all five years, consistently meeting very aggressive revenue, expense and market growth targets. Oversaw growth from 250,000 to 800,000 customers.o Developed engineering plans, including operational timelines and budgets, to double the capacity of the existing network by shortening the distance between amplifiers. Increased capacity to 750 MHz two-way interactive. CONTINENTAL CABLEVISION – Los Angeles, CaliforniaVice President/GM (1995 – 1998)Guided the development of Continental’s entry into the highly segmented Los Angeles market, securing the Franchise rights to six of the 24 highly segmented “districts,” ranging from Hollywood to the low income high rise housing areas of Compton, Watts and South Central within the greater Los Angeles area. Revenue responsibility for $150-million and support of 350,000 cable customers. Region employed over 550. o Completed a $54-million technical upgrade encompassing more than 4,300 horizontal miles of fiber optic cable to facilitate interactive 2-way connectivity throughout the plant. Developed and managed weekly capital cost meetings centering on progress reports and cost reviews. Finished on time / under budget.o Established a 250-person multi-lingual call center (English, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian), developing and implementing hiring criteria and training programs; designed computer-based response systems during facilities upgrades.o Developed, for the new Customer Care Center, the most responsive and comprehensive compensation and benefits packages including temporary day care facilities, valet parking and cash bonuses that resulted in the lowest customer service staff turnover in the Los Angeles area. o Created secure cable payment centers in exceptionally high crime areas, designed for associate safety while being able accept up to $100,000 a day in cash payments. CABLEVISION INDUSTRIES – Liberty, New YorkVice President - Regional Manager (1993 – 1995)Recruited to consolidate and standardize operations for three separate systems, create a single point customer service call center, establish common policy and procedure and rehabilitate daily operations for the company’s 150,000 subscriber base in the Chatsworth and Long Beach, California markets. o Consolidated the customer service effort, developing strategies as well as policy and procedure to accommodate two distinct channel service offerings, ultimately saving over $250,000 in annual operating expense. o Successfully defeated a union contract extension among the technical service employees, ultimately allowing consolidation of the non-union and the “formerly” union operations into a non-union whole. o Implemented personal accountability standards, re-established the basic benchmarks for the customer service department including call volumes, wait time and scripting; addressed performance issues in plant operations, maintenance and technical services.
